2019 Dialectic & rhetoric Cross Country



Sarah Rhea - HEAD CROSS COUNTRY COACH

   Coach Rhea is in her 7th season as the Griffin Cross Country coach. Sarah also makes her return to the classroom where she teaches Blended PreK at The ACADEMY South campus in addition to her role as Assistant Athletic Director.  

   Sarah graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters in Adult & Higher Education with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration. She attended Weatherford High School where she was class Valedictorian. While there she played basketball, ran Cross Country and Track, winning an Indoor State Championship and multiple Academic State Championship honors.  

   Sarah is married to Shawn and they have three children at The Academy ranging from 3rd grade to PreK.

JOSH SPEARS - ASSISTANT COACH

   Teaching in the Dialectic and Rhetoric schools for roughly 14 years at The ACADEMY, Coach Spears also serves as head dialectic track coach in addition to his cross country role, while also serving as Lyceum Director.  He grew up playing and loving sports, especially football and track, and even spent a brief stint on the baseball team at Hillsdale Free Will Baptist where he earned his BA in Theology.  Spears also earned an MA in Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma.  

   Josh is married to Kirsten and they have four children from high school to preschool.

Sean LOWELL - NORTH assistant coach

   Coach Lowell enters his first season with the Griffins as the North campus Assistant Coach and also Assistant Principal.  Sean comes to The ACADEMY from Jones Public Schools where he was in the classroom and coached multiple sports. He has been a teacher/coach for 15 years in public schools in the OKC metro area.  He has his BA in Psychology and MA in Administration.

   Sean and his bride Linda have been married for 33 years with three grown children and two grandchildren
