From your midtown campus principal, Rhonda Jones
When the first fall day arrives my heart makes an immediate jump to Thanksgiving. I was reared in Ohio, where Fall is full of abundant beauty and quite frankly, lasts a lot longer than the season can muster in Oklahoma. In this long season of COVID, gratitude has been my coping mechanism. As I’ve pondered gifts I’m grateful for, I’ve been reminded that storing up treasures in our hearts also helps us focus on our Heavenly treasures. Treasures that do not fade or dull as daily weathering and worldly pursuits attempt to pervade. A truth penned by Thornton Wilder creates a beautiful word picture that embodies a glimpse of hope-filled living; “we can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures”. As you find many beautiful reasons to focus on the season of Fall, may these thoughts also allow you to look up, as the Psalm says, and focus on the many good gifts that await us in Heaven and are meant to strengthen our hearts as we live an abundant life in Christ on this earth.
