From your north campus principal, Ann Taylor
It has been a good week at north campus and the adventure of learning and exploring has continued. It was nice to get outside for chapel and matins some this week as weather permitted. We have our dialectic basketball teams competing in the state meet. The dialectic athletes wore their game uniforms, and the dialectic student body had a special “spirit day” built into the week on Thursday as they start their pursuit of a championship. Grammar was equally busy with their various preparations for the coming weeks including speech meet next week. We continue to encourage you to monitor your student(s) health carefully with daily temperature checks prior to arriving on campus and watching for symptoms of illness to hold them at home to wait until the child is symptom free for 24 hours. Our nurse, Mrs. Barrier, is available via email for questions or to report any testing (for flu, strep, and/or covid) at kbarrier@theacademyok.org.
Speech Meet
First round for first through fifth graders will be Monday (February 8) or Tuesday (February 9) presenting in their classrooms with another same grade level teacher instead of their core teacher providing feedback and scoring their speech. All students will wear formal uniforms on their presentation day. Two students from each class will move forward to the finals on Wednesday (February 10). IF your Mozart student is selected for the finals, you will need to bring them to campus in formal uniform to the chapel at 8:15 for first/second grade round OR 9:45 for the third through fifth grade round. Parents of finalist may attend (2 per student) and spread out in the chapel. We have judges from the staff as well as one of our seniors from the Rhetoric campus. Please let me know if you have any questions. This is a great experience and growth time for all students in preparation for the upper school program.
